Hours is a 2013 American thriller film directed and written by Eric Heisserer. The film stars Paul Walker, Génesis Rodríguez, TJ Hassan, and Judd Lormand. The film premiered in America on March 10, 2013 at theSouth by Southwest Film Festival. It went on general release on December 13, 2013, in which it was considered a posthumous release after Paul Walker's death on November 30, 2013.
In 2005, during Hurricane Katrina, Nolan Hayes (Paul Walker), rushes his wife Abigale Hayes (Genesis Rodriguez) to the emergency room as she is in labor. The doctor later explains to Nolan that his wife gave birth to a baby girl but loses her life (offscreen) in the process due to liver failure. Nolan refuses to accept her death and is in grief. The baby is then put in a neonatal incubator to stay alive so she can be healthy when she grows.
When the hurricane becomes too strong, everyone in the hospital, including the doctors and nurses, evacuate the building leaving only Nolan and his baby (that he names after her mother) in the empty hospital. The power then goes out and Nolan is forced to find a way to keep his baby alive. Somewhere in a room, he finds a metal box that has a handle to spin around to bring some power back that he uses for his baby. He also finds some airbags for the baby to breath in, and some food and drinks for him to stay alive as well. the power on the incubator is very short and only lasts up to 2-3 minutes. Using only that amount of time (which weakens on the second half of the film), Nolan tries to juggle trying to get help outside of the hospital and rushing to help his baby before her timer runs out. Sometimes, Nolan sits down with his baby and tells the story about how her mom and dad met.
A father struggles to keep his infant daughter alive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
